Taxes & Fees
How much is the land transfer tax in Jordan?
Answer
Jordan's land transfer tax (daribat naqil al-milkiyya) is currently set at 9% of the official assessed value (not necessarily the sale price). This is typically split 50/50 between buyer and seller (4.5% each), though the split can be negotiated. The assessed value is set by the Ministry of Finance and is generally below market value. In addition to the transfer tax, there are registration fees of approximately 0.3–0.6% of assessed value payable to the Land Registry. First-time homebuyers and certain investment categories may qualify for partial exemptions.
